Benefits of VOSB Status (Inactive 2026)

  • Good access to Government Opportunities
  • Increase Speed of Acquisition
  • VA Limit Competition
  • Meet 3% Federal Goal Set-Asides
  • Reduce the Decision Cycle
  • Improve Supply Chain Processes & Performance
  • Support Veterans & Small Businesses
  • Any business verified as a VOSB has to have acquired that designation through the Veterans Administration (VA). This means that a VOSB has already undergone a vetting process by an external authority. The VA also sets aside the majority of its contracts for VOSBs.
  • Due to the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999, the federal government as a whole has set a goal of granting no less than 3% of the total value of all its prime contract and subcontract awards to VOSBs.
  • If you are a large private business seeking to be a prime contractor on a government project, partnering with a VOSB like Bertotti, Frank will give you an advantage when bidding for the job. This is because many government contracts stipulate that prime contractors meet a small business participation goal as a part of their agreement with a federal agency.
  • Having a VOSB as a part of your team as a subcontractor would be of great benefit to any larger business entity that wishes to work with the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • The DoD will be the most inclined to have confidence in the knowledge and experience of the veterans at the helm of the VOSB, counting on them to understand the goals associated with military-based projects.
  • Large businesses benefit from the small business program even though they have to give away a portion of their money to small business contractors, on one hand, they can certainly participate in a set-aside competition as a subcontractor and benefit from the money allocated to small businesses.
  • Mentors and protégés in the All Small program can form joint ventures. These joint ventures would qualify for set-aside contracts that the small and large business is eligible for.
